STUDENT LEADERSHIP
At St Peter’s we believe that pupils should be given a wide range of opportunities to develop and practise leadership skills in preparation for life beyond school. The children have many opportunities to take on different student leadership roles at the school. The activities that they focus on include improving the quality of learning and teaching in the classroom, supporting the school’s aim to be a place where everyone enjoys learning and is creative – trying new things, finding solutions and embracing their responsibilities. In many of the leadership roles, our children have to prepare an election speech and are elected in by their peers.
HEAD BOY AND HEAD GIRL
Pupils in year 6 who would like to be Head Boy or Head Girl have to write an application to the Principal which includes references of character. Those pupils who are shortlisted will be interviewed by the Principal and other staff members to discuss their application and suitability to the role.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
The Head Girl and Head Boy are appointed as the lead student roles at St Peter’s C.E. Academy. They lead the School Council, represent the school locally and ensure that the student leadership team are fulfilling their responsibilities as agreed. The School Council, elected by the class groups, ensures that every voice at St Peter’s C.E. Academy is heard. Various school projects are planned and led throughout the year to raise the profile of learning, charity and awareness of local and national issues.
CHURCH COUNCIL
Our Church Council members at St Peter’s are elected by their class to uphold the core Christian values and to demonstrate a positive attitude and motivation that others aspire to uphold. The Church Council role is to ensure that the values are visible to all the school community, develop and maintain reflective areas for the school community and represent the school in Church services.
HOUSE TEAMS
There are four house teams at St Peter’s C.E. Academy: Kestrels, Falcons, Hawks and Eagles. The teams are led by House Captains. The roles of House and Vice House Captain are ones of privilege, pride and responsibility. Each Captain will be different and contribute an assortment of skills and ideas to the job which require dedication and commitment for the entire year.
