Class Blog – 3rd September 2018
Welcome to St Andrew’s class! I hope you’ve all had a fantastic holiday and are ready for a busy year.
Maths this term will begin with Place Value, including being able to represent numbers in more than one way, and being able to compare, contrast and estimate numbers. In English we will be studying ‘The Firework-Maker’s Daughter’, an adventure story with jungles, pirates, a volcano, fireworks and a talking elephant!
In our topic this term we will be looking at the Nene Valley, and how it has changed over time. This topic will cover aspects of History, Geography, Art and DT up to Christmas. Later in the year we will also be studying the Vikings, Europe and World War 2. Our science topic up to half term will be Rocks, Fossils and Soils, and there will be lots of practical lessons to get involved in!
All children are expected to read regularly every week; each time they read, they will receive raffle tickets. When they have read 5 times, they will receive raffle tickets and a merit, which will count towards their house. Other prizes for reading will be given in class throughout the year.
Could you please ensure that your child brings their home/school planner in to school every day. Please feel free to write any comments in it.
Every Friday your child will bring their planner home which will have been signed by their teacher. This should be countersigned by the parent/carer and returned to school again on Monday morning.
