Class Blog – March 2019
Welcome back after half term!
The run up to Easter is going to be an exciting one filled with excellent opportunities. The Vikings topic gets an exciting start with visitors from Stanwick lakes coming in to host a Viking workshop for Year 3. We are also looking at the geography of the Viking realms this term and building our own Viking Long Ship in DT.
In Maths we are finishing off learning about measurement, converting centimetres, meters and millimetres, and then moving on to learning about fractions. We will also continue to practice our 2,3,4,5,8 and 10 times tables. The children have been really improving with this thanks to all their hard work on Times Table Rockstars.
In English we are starting to look at the story Alien Landing and learning to write our own stories based on this.
I am looking forward to another term with the children along with many more opportunities for learning with some fun added in too!
All children are expected to read regularly every week to an adult; each time they read, they will receive raffle tickets. When they have read 5 times, they will receive raffle tickets and a merit, which will count towards their house. Other prizes for reading will be given in class throughout the year.
Could you please ensure that your child brings their home/school planner in to school every day. Please feel free to write any comments in it.
Every Friday your child will bring their planner home which will have been signed by their teacher. This should be countersigned by the parent/carer and returned to school again on Monday morning.
